While almost half the men in the world suffer from baldness or hair loss, in most cases the victim has not even reached his 30s! (Not to mention that he has not even thought of getting married!) Consequently the mere bald issue has become a major burden on their psychological health, their personal life as well as their social life.
In addition to male pattern baldness (also known as androgenic alopecia), other conditions may also cause hair loss;
- It could be hereditary
- It could be caused by certain strong medication and chemotherapy
- It could be caused by stress (physical, mental or due to illnesses)
- It could be caused by aging; as we grow older, our hair also loses its strength and liveliness
- It could be caused by lack of protein or iron
- It could be caused by ringworm of the scalp which is a fungal infection
- It could be caused by unnecessary force on the hair such as tight braids or ponytails
- It could be caused by thyroid diseases
- It could be caused by various hormonal changes
While you decide on whether to shave the rest of your hair in order to get rid of that gruesomely growing bald spot on your scalp or not, give some attention to the coolest and the most effective solution that has ever been invented; scalp micropigmentation!
How does it work?
It is basically tattooing your scalp; don’t get all scared now because you will never want a tattoo on your body. Scalp micropigmentation treatment, which is much like a tattooing process, includes the steps of selecting a preferable pigment color, conducting a patch test to determine if you are allergic to the products used and embedding the pigment deposits on the dermal layer of your skin. As the final result, you will have a neat shaved-head look which has become the most trending hair style of the 21st century!
Does it hurt?
The needle used for this procedure is much smaller than the needle used in an actual tattooing process. Moreover the pigment deposits will not be injected five layers deep in to the skin as it is done with a general tattooing procedure; hence it is a non-invasive treatment which leaves no chance for infection. You will also be given a local anesthetic which would reduce any discomfort that may arise during the course of the treatment.
What to expect after the treatment?
The scalp micropigmentation treatment has a fast healing time; usually it takes only two to four days. Immediately after the treatment you might experience reddening and slight irritation on the treated skin; this reaction is completely normal. You will be given a vitamin A and D barrier cream which you can apply to accelerate the healing process. Within the first few weeks it is also recommended to wear a hat to cover the treated site from UV exposure (you can also use a sun screen whenever you go out).
In the beginning the color of the pigments which have been inserted on to your scalp will appear lighter in shade due to redness; however as the redness subsides (within 24-48 hours) the original shade will recover. There will also be some scabbing due to the needle incisions and they will fall off within a few days.
What are the benefits of scalp micropigmentation?
- It is affordable
You may already spend more than you should or you can afford on thousands of hair loss products such as shampoos, conditioners, tonics, hair masks etc. Moreover other options such as hair transplants are nowhere near your budget. And then there is scalp micropigmentation; it is not only affordable, but it is in fact a beneficial long-term investment.
- It is trendy
While bald spots on your scalp are most certainly a big turn off, a shaved head look is just the right kind of look, for even men with perfect hair prefer it over their mane. Since the pigments can be inserted in a way that would mimic the direction of real hair growth, the end result of this procedure will not only conceal your bald spots, but it will also provide the perfect illusion of a shave head; hence complementing your overall appearance.
- It is effective
The scalp micropigmentation treatment can be used to both conceal bald spots or receding hair lines and boost the density of sparse hair. It produces long lasting and real results, ones that will not become less effective with time like other methods. It will also contribute to raising your drowned spirits, increasing your confidence and improving your looks!
